The Nose is the name of the route we took. It is shown here, start in green, end in red.

 

Climbing a route such as this involved following a crack system, inserting hardware into the crack. When you run out of crack, you either swing over to another crack system (tension traverse) or follow bolts drilled into the rock by the original ascent team.

Many of the route features are named, such as Sickle Ledge, Texas Flake, Boot Flake, the Great Roof, Pancake Flake, Camp V. Some of the tension traverses have names, such as the King Swing, known as the longest tension traverse in the Valley.
