Early Journal Club Mailing List

Although I have no record of who was invited initially, it would have included the faculty and residents of UCSF departments of Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery. No one from Plastic Surgery was interested, other than one Fellow who showed up once. No orthopedic resident or attending ever showed. Mat Masem and Kendrick Lee had been helping out in the Clinic, and I think that they were early attendees.

The best thing I have to an early roster is a mailing list dated August 18, 1993, listing the following:

Lee, Mathias Masem, James E. Johnson, Robert P. Hoffman, Charlotte B. Alexander, Rosendo S. Icochea, Noah Weiss, Jay B. Hann, III, Keith A. Denkler, Kenneth Hui, and Jeffrey Weil.

Most of the invitees did not attend, and were dropped from the list.

Another list, dated October 13, 1993, included:

Sheldon Brown's name first appears on an invitation list June 7, 1994.

Jay Hann retired from the group early in 2000, and Bill Newmeyer retired at the end of 2000.

Kyle Bickel attended his first meeting on February 20, 2001, at a meeting at Bob Hoffman's house.
