Had a good wknd.  Weather good, warming as it progressed.
Rut beginning, saw plenty of bucks.
I was sick, slept in mornings, was not allowed to touch food or dishes, would bring up my lungs every hour to check fluid levels and then stuff them back down my throat.
Current water tank is iffy, Mike will begin to replace.
We're pretty sure that Sandy's buck is the same one that eyed me & Craig at 10 yards two days earlier.

MY STORY

Arrived Friday arvo, seeing a nice buck, high and wide, with two does and, later, a scrawny buck all on Bella Vista.  That evening, Craig, Bill and Sandy spotted several deer, including bucks, from Pruneridge Hook and Hummingbird, respectively.  I watched the bottom of the Van Horn from Bobcat Corner and saw nuthin'.  Next morning, same people in the same locations, and Craig and Bill saw bucks, but not Sandy and I.  Bill treated us to some fantastic beef, wow!

Saturday eve was also unproductive, as was a warm Sunday morning and evening.  Actually, Sunday morning the deer saw me...I busted out 6 deer of unknown persuasion on the way out to the Hook (I went in the dark...too early).  Sunday night, hunting the top, I spotted two does and a yearling, followed around by what must have been a buck (too small and too dark).  Sunday we cut more firewood and sighted some rifles.  I left Sunday after the evening hunt.  On the way down towards Levin Park, approaching the golf course, I almost ran into a 200+ pound wild pig wandering on the pavement.  I backed up, and it just sauntered off the road.

This was my first weekend hunting this year, and it wasn't until Sunday evening that I felt really "in the groove" as a hunter.  I miss that feeling...its why we go to the mountains, weapon in hand; predators, alive to the woods.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Mike
