Guy and I saw a flicker as we walked back from Hummingbird (this photo by Walter J. Flint and posted at http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=82270)
The bird is in the woodpecker family and has a characteristic squawking call.
We also saw a lot of Western Bluebirds, which feed on the berries of the California Holly Cherry. These bushes are found on the Arroyo side of Hummingbird, to the left of the usual hunting spot, and around the Hill 41 hunting spot. (Also a Walter J. Flint photo, same source.)
