Background
This is the general area of Bill's hunt. He is in game management unit 111, located in the Ely Ranger District of the Humboldt National Forest:

This is a closer view of the area:

The area is called the Schell Range, and you can see North and South Schell Peaks in this closer view:

A larger topo of the entire area is on this page.
I don't know if he will get to North Schell Peak, but if he does, this is what he will see (I do not know what direction these two composite photos are taken, but until Bill gets back with photos, it is the best I can do):

More views of North Schell Peak:
The trailhead into North Schell Peak from the east. Note the aspens.
This is higher up the eastern flank of North Schell Peak. Looks like good deer or elk country to me, but steep hiking.
.
These are pictures of the higher country on North Schell Peak.
But those are the pictures for the summer-time duffer! None of that for our hero, Bill. This is what he is likely to see on North Schell Peak:

Monday Oct 18
Left Golf Links around 4 pm. Drove to Craig's. Here is Craig's report:
David, bill stayed at our house Monday and left Tuesday for Ely. He left early on Tuesday so he had plenty of time to make camp. I never hunted near Ely, so no photo's. Also, Bill will get some snow this weekend, if the weather guys are right with their forecast.
Tuesday Oct 19
Drove to camp, set up.
Wednesday Oct 20
Day in camp, scouting. Anticipation mounts.
