Journal Club

The Schedule for the Year 2015

The meeting date is the second Tuesday of the month and the time is 7:00 pm for food and cases. Noah has observed that we either have to start the Journal (ie, end cases) by 8:30 pm or change the name to Cases Club. Late-comers will be requested to save their cases until after Journal Club. If you cannot attend, please email the host at least a day in advance, as this helps them to plan the food. If less than 24 hrs, please call.

October was hosted in the garden by Becky, with guest appearances by Juno and Jade. The weather and company were delightful. After the apetizers of cheese and crackers, along with prosciutto on a stick, we moved onto Juno's dinner of beef and spinach lasagna and salad. Dessert was unique: fresh mixed berry clafoutis. Kendrick posted four cases with his shortest followup ever: they were preop presentations. The Journal followed, without any stellar articles, according to consensus opinion. Relton suggested a title change to Journal of Dead Guys due to the quantity of cadaver or engineering studies. There was no dissent. Next up: Josh, with Relton to do December, Bill in Jan, and Noah finally hosting at his home (away from home), in San Francisco. Remember: Nov 13 is SF Hand Club, in Oakland. It will be Waldo E. Floyd, III, on swan neck and boutonniere injuries. Waldo trained with Littler and has drawings from the master that will be presented.

February was picked up at the last minute by Kendrick and done in style, as usual. The usual suspects were Josh, Bob, Becky with the Boot, Mat, Relton, Lisa (surprise!), Noah, Hillary, and David. Cases were discussed, again David was the outlier in the treatment of a P1base fracture (all would pin, David was the solo vote for a cast), and we went to the Journal. Nothing earthshattering or practice-bending. The highlight of the evening, besides the raucaus comraderie, was Becky's announcement of the Juno Fellowship for a resident to spend several weeks in the third world, and the assigning of future dates the people who were not in the room.
